Frequently asked questions
National (Australia) answers for people exploring therapy, therapists, and practices. For provider-specific early-access questions, see also the FAQ on the homepage.
- What is Therapair?
- Therapair is an Australian platform in early access that helps people clarify needs and preferences before contacting a mental health provider, and helps therapists and practices receive enquiries with clearer context. It is not emergency care and does not guarantee therapeutic outcomes.
- Who can request therapist or practice early access?
- Mental health and wellbeing providers across Australia, including solo practitioners and people who are part of a practice, team, or clinic network. Use the therapists page for individual providers or the practices page if you are registering interest on behalf of an organisation.
- How do clients express interest?
- People exploring therapy in Australia can join the public client waitlist. Availability rolls out over time; the waitlist is the best way to hear when client access opens in your area.
- Is research participation required?
- No. Any research survey or extra feedback is optional. You can still preview flows or register interest without opting in.
- What does “match” mean on Therapair?
- It means better alignment of information at first contact — not a guarantee of personal fit, wait times, or clinical outcomes. Providers remain responsible for assessing suitability.
- Is Therapair a crisis service?
- No. If you need help right now in Australia, call 000 or use a crisis helpline such as Lifeline (13 11 14). Therapair is not monitored like a helpline.
